Just a “photoshoot day” in Yosemite with my best friends… no we haven’t been planning this for months…
When LB came to me asking if I would help him plan his proposal to Katie, I was absolutely thrilled! I could not have been more exciting! Not only was I helping my best friends get engaged and getting to capture the actual moment, but also in one of my favorite locations! Yosemite National Park!
We spent many sneaky days and phone calls planning and making sure everything was perfect! He used photos from my previous shoots in Yosemite to pick the exact location of where he wanted to propose. We planned the day, the “lies”, the timeline, the code words we’d use when we were in the right spot and when he was ready. We even practiced the pose prompt and ring hand off with my fiancé! My fiancé and I even drove separately so we could drop off champagne and flowers to the hotel he booked right outside the park! Of course, all under the ruse that we were stopping by to see my fiancé’s uncle on the way back so that’s why we coudln’t drive together! haha
Of course, when the day arrived and we got to the park entrance and we found out the road to Taft Point (where he was planning to propose) was closed… we had to make changes to all those months of planning on the spot, all with her IN THE CAR! Lets just say I was so stressed out! haha
But after spending the day roaming the through the valley we made our way to Tunnel View and decided to hike up to Inspiration Point! Now, none of us had done this hike and we had no idea that it was pretty much a vertical hike and at any point would have been good enough for photos so we had Katie confused as to why we insisted on continuing to hike. It was all worth it when we made it to the top at the perfect timing!
After enjoying the view for a few minutes, I set them up in “our prompt” and he got down on one knee and when she turned around we were all in tears! Oh man is it hard to focus on photographing when you’re straight up crying! It was so beautiful and magical! They are so perfect for each other and while nothing went as planning that day, it ended up being the perfect moment and I wouldn’t change it one bit!
Congratulations Katie and LB on your engagement! I can’t wait for your wedding!
