Beyond my artistic pursuits, I am dedicated to being your trusted companion throughout your wedding or elopement journey.
Me: “Kate”
My Fiancé: “Chris”
Chris: In May of 2019, shortly after moving in together, I finalized the purchase of the perfect ring for the perfect girl. I knew I wasn’t ready to propose yet but I also knew it was inevitable and I wanted the ring to be ready and waiting. Little did I know, the perfect moment wouldn’t come for another 6 months. I had opportunities to propose prior and a great way to pop the question, but Kate had some medical issues going on during the summer of 2019 and was in a lot of pain. I did not want her to be uncomfortable during this once in a lifetime moment. After Kate went through surgery to resolve the pain, we had a trip planned to New York City. This gave me the exact opportunity I was waiting for!
Kate: New York City had been on the top of my bucket list for as long as I can remember and to go for the first time with a man I was so in love with sounded perfect. Chris had never been before either and we were so excited to experience it together for the first time. A lot of research and planning went in to our trip. This included making sure we went to the Brooklyn Bridge as early in the morning as possible to avoid the crowds. The Brooklyn Bridge was what I was most excited for and could not wait to see the city skyline and gorgeous architecture of the bridge. On our first morning there, we woke up at 5:30am and hopped on the subway to get to the Brooklyn Bridge by 6:30am, right before sunrise! We had the whole place to ourselves.
We took our time walking across and of course I stopped to take a million pictures. At about 3/4 of the way across, Chris stopped and started to sing our song which is “Perfect” by Ed Sheehan. One thing you may not know about Chris is he is an amazing singer and sings any chance he gets. So this was something that wasn’t out of the ordinary and I just thought he was being cute. As he gets through the song I realize he’s changed some of the lyrics. He changed it to “Katelyn will you marry me?” As he said this again, this time in his regular voice, he got down on one knee and opened up a ring box! The box light up with a small little light shinning on the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen. I was so surprised and of course I said “YES”!
As we were kissing, hugging and me processing and jumping up and down, I realized someone was taking our picture. My thought was “oh cool someone caught this moment on camera”. A few minutes later I realized she was still there. I asked Chris, “Is she with us?” He confirmed it and explained that he had hired a photographer who had caught the whole proposal on camera and was now going to be doing a mini photoshoot of us. The photographer in me was over the moon excited! He knows me so well! We then proceeded to do an engagement photoshoot on the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo, my now two favorite places in the whole world!
Both: The proposal could not have been more perfect. We got to experience New York City as an engaged couple and will forever hold the Brooklyn Bridge as a special place in our hearts!
