As a California Elopement Photographer, I have seen many beautiful elopements in stunning locations across the state. But one that truly stands out in my mind is this epic and windy elopement at Dillon’s Beach!

Dillon’s Beach, located in Marin County, is a hidden gem along the coast of Northern California. It is a secluded and peaceful spot that offers breathtaking views of the ocean, rolling hills, and rugged cliffs. This location was perfect for my adventurous couple, who were looking for a unique and intimate wedding experience.

The day of the elopement was incredibly windy, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph. While this may have deterred some couples, my couple embraced the challenge. It even ended up giving us some of the most amazing photos, because of the wind that blew through her hair and dress!

We started the day in Petaluma, about a half hour from Dillon’s Beach. The couple wanted a full day experience! We started at their favorite coastal coffee shop, Avid Coffee, to warm them up before heading to the beach! The bride was able to change in my amazing foldable, pop-up changing tent that is perfect for my adventurous elopements!

For the ceremony, we found a dramatic hillside covered in the most beautiful flowing beach grass. We also found that if we tucked into the hill we were able to escape the wind, if only for a minute. The couple exchanged vows and rings as the waves crashed in the background. It was a magical moment that truly captured the essence of their love.

After the ceremony, we braved the wind and explored the beach and neighboring cliffside, capturing stunning photos of the couple against the rugged landscape. Despite the challenging conditions, we were able to create unforgettable images that showcased the beauty of Dillons Beach and the love between the newlyweds!

My amazing bride decided to have a dress change later in the day, BECAUSE WHY NOT! So I decided that was the perfect time for us to change locations! We headed to one of my new favorite lookout spots at Dillon Beach and changed the mood from boho to chic! Of course, that means we had to do a champagne pop and a champagne tower!

(Pro Tip: Windy day – Hot glue your glasses (plastic) together to keep the tower from falling apart!)

Overall, this epic and windy elopement at Dillons Beach was a memorable and unforgettable experience. As a California elopement photographer, it was an honor to capture the raw beauty of this special location and the love between my clients.
